ABOUT THE ROLE & PROJECTS
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health in the United Kingdom and has a high reputation internationally as a role model for the development of clinical guidelines. It provides national guidance and advice to improve health and social care.
As the Media Relations Executive (Design) at NICE, I ensure the effective delivery of NICE’s communications strategy with a particular focus on communicating the activities of NICE and its guidance to the media using innovative design and branding.
Primarily this is achieved through the innovative use of engaging infographics to bring statistics to life and to explain NICE’s work. These are utilised on social media platforms, primarily Twitter and Facebook. Since NICE have been using these infographics, public engagement has markedly increased.
Recently, I designed the overlay graphics for a unique Snapchat campaign, promoting antimicrobial drug awareness and control.
I have designed successful Shorthand web pages and assisted in the design and development of the NICE public website. I also produce two monthly e-newsletters - NICE News and Update for Primary Care - which are sent out to over 30,000 people worldwide.
I am involved with the planning and managing communications activities to support the development, launch and ongoing use of NICE guidance (including technology appraisals, clinical guidelines, public health and social care guidance).
